Christ the King Sunday, Thanksgiving Sunday(White)
Rev. John Wilks preaching “Imitating the King”
Philippians 2:1-11

Prayer:

Almighty God,
Your only Son came to earth and took the posture of a servant
and is now enthroned at Your right hand, where He rules in glory.
As He reigns in our hearts, may we rejoice in His peace,
obey His decrees, live in His love, and imitate His humility. Amen.
A Prayer for Christ the King Sunday
adapted from The New Handbook of the Christian Year, Hickman et. al. (Abigdon Press, 1986 & 1992)

Food for thought:

“When we put on the mind of Christ and focus our thinking and behavior on the Kingdom of God, we can begin to evaluate our choices, our decisions, and our motivations with new clarity We move from a place of sleepwalking through our lives and being driven by earthbound instincts to a place of living in full consciousness of our position as heirs of the Most High.”

Brennan Manning from The Importance of Being Foolish
(Harper San Francisco, 2005.)
