The lyrics are:
Kyrie eleison.
Christe eleison.
Kyrie eleison.
Which translates to:
Lord, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.
Lord, have mercy upon us.
These lyrics are an ancient prayer which has been in church tradition reaching back to the earliest forms of Christian worship. (Wikipedia has a handy article on the history of the Kyrie.)
Over the next few weeks, we'll be alternating between Mozart's Mass in C Minor and modern music which shares common theological themes with the preceding section of the Mass. Stop by text week for contemporary cries for the Lord's mercy in modern music.
