Spiritual Disciplines: Growing Towards God

Dear Tyler Streeters,

The season of Lent is here, and now is the time when we look inside and seek to be made right with God before we celebrate Easter Sunday. It is a time of prayer, reflection, study, and humility.

To aid you in this season, I'd like to invite you to join in a 6-week study on the spiritual disciplines. We will meet every Monday evening during Lent in the Anniversary Class on the first floor of the sanctuary building at 7:00 pm.

The topics:

Session 1 – Feb 22

The Discipled Life: A Case For Spiritual Disciplines

Session 2 – March 1

Daily Bread: Finding God in His Word

Session 3 – March 8

Communing with God: Modes of Prayer and Meditation

Session 4 – March 15

Three Rules, Three Meetings, and One Book: Wesleyan Spirituality in a Nutshell

Session 5 – March 22

Recovering the baby from the bathwater - liturgy and other "catholic" things.

Session 6 – March 29

Bearing Our Cross - Fasting, Service, Self-denial, and Solitude as avenues for spiritual growth.

There are no required materials, though I encourage you to bring a Bible and an open heart.

If you have questions or if you require child care, e-mail me at johnwilks@tsumc.org or call the office Monday morning 214-946-8106.

Grace and peace,
John Wilks
Associate Pastor
